Surgical Services

The Columbus Community Hospital Surgical Services Department provides coverage for you and your family 24 hours a day, seven days a week in our surgical suites, located on the hospital's ground level.

Regular hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with elective procedures taking place between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Emergency surgeries are also performed.

  • Laparoscopic gallbladder surgeries
  • Cataract surgery
  • Endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy

Inpatient Surgeries

  • Total joint replacements
  • Prostate surgery
  • Hysterectomies

All surgical procedures must be scheduled by a surgeon, with a referral from your family physician.

Meet our surgeons

Dr. Craig Haberman, D.O.

Dr. Craig Haberman specializes in general surgery and has been providing care to patients in the area since 1991. With special interests in advanced laparoscopic surgery and minimally-invasive breast surgery, he graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, IL. Dr. Haberman is a board certified general surgeon. Dr. Haberman sees patients at both Prairie Ridge Health Clinic locations.



Dr. Gary Galvin, M.D.

Dr. Gary Galvin has been providing general surgery care to patients in the Columbus area since 2003. As a general surgeon, his specialties include bowel, breast and laparoscopic surgery. Certified by the American Board of Surgery, he graduated from the University of Iowa College Of Medicine. Dr. Galvin sees patients at the Columbus Prairie Ridge Health Clinic location.



Dr. Matthew Niesen, M.D.

Dr. Niesen is one of only a handful of surgeons in the state who holds the distinction of being fellowship trained in orthopedic joint replacement surgery; specializing in hip, knee and shoulder replacement. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his MD from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as Chief Resident and was honored with the Longmire Surgical Society Research Award. He completed an additional fellowship in joint replacement at the Mayo Clinic.



Dr. Robert Coe, M.D.

Dr. Robert Coe has been taking care of patients in the Beaver Dam and Columbus areas since 1995. Receiving his M.D. from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, he specializes in orthopedics and sports medicine. Dr. Coe is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Coe sees patients at both clinic locations.
