CCH named Top Performer by The Joint Commission

Columbus Community Hospital (CCH) is one of 30 hospitals in Wisconsin to receive the Top Performer on Joint
Commission Key Quality Measures award. The designation is based on CCH’s performance related to accountability measures for heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, and immunization.

“This designation is a representation of our team providing excellent care to our patients every time,” said Rob
Pasbrig, Director of Quality, Risk, and Patient Safety at Columbus Community Hospital. “Our medical staff have
really embraced the use of order sets and best practices to assure optimal patient outcomes. Nurse driven protocols were also put in place to drive the success and ensure consistency in care.”

Nationally, Columbus Community Hospital was one of 1,043 hospitals (31.5%) out of the more than 3,300 Joint Commission accredited hospitals measured to receive the award, based on 2014 data. “These Top Performer hospitals are demonstrating how to achieve and sustain superb levels of performance in delivering evidence-based treatments,” said Mark R. Chassin, MD, FACP, MPP, MPH, president and CEO, The Joint Commission.

The Top Performer program is a way to provide transparency to the public in the reporting of performance at the hospitals where they receive care. It identifies hospitals with extraordinary performance on specific important measures of quality.

Requirements to become a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures included:

  • Achieve cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures

  • Achieve performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure with at least 30 denominator cases; and

  • Have at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and within that measure set, achieve a performance rate of 95 percent or above on all applicable individual accountability measures.
